Johanna Jaeger's work explores the conditions and limits of the medium of photography. Her fifth solo exhibition Developing Horizon at SCHWARZ CONTEMPORARY is conceived in reference to the magical moment in analog photo development when an image visualises for the first time in the developer dish. The exhibition space is transformed into a room-filling installation, a 'walk-in developer dish,' you might say, that enables an immersive, physical experience of the photographic. Overlapping motifs projected into the space can be traversed by the viewer; the modification of the ambient light from dark to light refers to the conditions that determine our perception.
